tech-facilitated gender based violence

For a number of years, I have worked on a variety of projects related to tech-facilitated gender based violence (also referred to as online gender based violence), an issue that desproportionately affects Black women.

publications and research:

Between 2018 and 2019, I volunteered at Glitch, a nonprofit based in the UK working to end online abuse. During this time, I helped develop this toolkit (which was later revamped and published in Portuguese too!).

In 2023, I mapped 10 inspiring initiatives fighting online political violence against women in Latin America.

Most recently, between 2024 and 2025, I led a research project with the Feminist Internet Research Network focusing on the experiences of Black Brazilian women with tech-facilitated gender based violence.

In the video below, I’m a featured speaker during the launch of Instituto Avon’s report on violence against women in digital spaces:

Here you can learn a panel about TFGBV, moderated by me, during Amnesty Tech’s event on “Intersectionality, Technology, Gender and Inequality in the digital age”.

The members of the first panel are seated on the stage looking out to the audience.
